Start by testing the charging system. Measure the battery voltage with the engine running. It must be between 13.75 and 14.75 volts.

What happens to that voltage when you turn on the head lights? 14 volts is good but to know for sure we're on the right track, use a digital meter and measure to at least one decimal place.
