1996 Chevrolet Truck Repair Question

"can use 1989 454 heads on a 454 block. some say no and say yes. i have a lifter tic noise using the above combintion on a new rebuild..thank s"
I rebuilt a 1096 454 chevy motor. I used 1989 454 heads, engine runs good but has a lifter tappet noise. Some peolpe say can't use 89 heads on 96 block, will this make a deferents .. Thank you

We only recommend direct fit parts. As far as the noise, if it is a lifter, the heads will not repair the problem.

not as far as the lifter noise.
does it overheat?? that would be my concern.
