1996 Chevrolet Cavalier Repair Question

Chevrolet Cavalier Gas Problem

Got a check engine lite.
OBD said P0172 Bank 1 too rich
I changed the O2 before the cat.
Changed Spark plugs
The plugs I pulled was Gas soaked.
Installed a new air filter.
Still got the same code.
Eats up alot of fuel to.
2.2L engine.
Plz help

Use a fuel pressure gage. Not only check for correct pressure, check that the pressure doesn't drop like a rock, with everything off. Use a noid light and check injector pulse. Maybe a leaking injector/s.

Your coolant temp sensor could cause the system to run rich. Check the fuel pressure regulator vacuum hose, any gas in it. Smell of your crankcase oil on the dip-stick, If it smells like gas, I wouldn't drive it till you fixed the issue. Plus change oil and filter after fix.

Just a thought, did you visually check for spark at the plugs?
