1996 BMW 318 Repair Question

Ive got an n reg bmw 318 and when i travel about 3 miles the engine just cuts out and will not start again for a couple of minutes
Ive charged battery and still no luck
ive been told that it could be somthing to do with the immobliser or alarm system
i dont use the alarm due to empty battery in fob

If there is a security light coming on, it could be the alarm system. When it cuts out and won't start, you need to check for spark and fuel to the engine. One will be missing. Also, if the check engine light is on, have the computer scanned to identify trouble codes.
