Change plugs, wires, check injectors, fuel pump, distributor cap. Did not change timing belt could the belt cause this? Have a question on a 1995 Toyota corolla 1.8 lt with a distributor can replace the engine with a one out of a 1999 corolla with coil pack?

Check compression first. Timing could be the issue but you need the belt checked as well.
