I have a 95 impreza. The old owner destroyed the ignition barrel and housing. Ive removed it and baught a replacement from the wreckers. Its slightly newer and came out of a liberty. When I got home I realized it was a rectangle shapr fitting but my steering wheel column has a circular shape so I aim to remove the barrel from the housing but I cant find a release pin or any other method to get the barrel out of the housing. Please help me

No sorry it was a subaru liberty. Similar to the outback. I know it wont fit I just need to know how to remove the inside mechanism from its case then purchase a housing from the same model as my car and place the guts of this one into the new matching housing. So again my question is how to remove the ignition guts from its metal case? I know that most need the key turned to acc or so on and then you push a thin screwdriver into the release pin and pull the key to remove the ignition barrel. I cant seem to find this so called release pin. The ignition barrel and housing in question came from a late 90's early 2000 model subaru liberty
