HOW DO THE FUEL INJECTORS COME OUT OF THE INTAKE MANIFOLD OR CAN THEY BE LIFTED OUT WITH THE MANIFOLD WHEN CHANGING A STARTER?

J 41081, Injector Remover

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT

Relieve fuel system pressure.

Refer to Fuel System / Service and Repair. See: Service and Repair

Injector electrical connector.
Release fuel rail to intake manifold locking tab by pushing toward center of intake manifold.
Pry injector up out of intake manifold using J 41081 between the bottom of injector and intake manifold.
Spread injector retainer clip to release injector from fuel rail.
Fuel injector.

NOTE: It may be necessary to release the adjacent injector(s) from the intake manifold to allow increased fuel rail movement for injector access.

INSTALL OR CONNECT

Lubricate new upper and lower injector O-rings with clean engine oil and install on injector.
New retainer clip onto injector.
Fuel injector into fuel rail.

Push in far enough to engage retainer clip with machined slots on rail socket.

Snap fuel rail down onto intake manifold.
Injector electrical connector.
Tighten fuel filler cap.
Negative battery cable.

Inspect
Turn ignition switch to "ON" position for two seconds, then turn to "OFF" for ten seconds. Again turn to "ON" position and check for fuel leaks.

Rear seat cushion.
Intake manifold top cover.
