check fuse 8 and 24 for a good connection. those are under dash lh side. then check connections at back of ip. also check for a loose grounda t left,right and center o f dash- they arenormally black wires.

a fuse is a sfety device, power goes through it to supply the power to the instrument cluster. if it is burnt or not making a good connection powe won't go through it correctly, hence it will work sometimes and other times not. if it's burnt power wont' go thorugh at all an dnothing in ip will work. this could be another problem but this is the first thing to check. if you aren't any good with vehicles then take it to a pro and have them look at it.
