my 95 v8 4.6l broke down yesterday on the highway it said there was a 1/4 tank of gas in it but it started to putter then the check engine light along with low fuel light came on, the steering wheel locked and the car shut off, i got it started back up drove it about six miles to the gas station and filled it up i tried to pull out of the station and it shut off again. it runs while your foot is on the gas but as soon as u take it off it shuts off and it was blowing black smoke out of the exust. we changed the spark plugs and it run good down the block but once back at the station it shut off and wouldnt start back up. so any advice on what it would be?
