I own a 1995 Ford Contour with 140,325 miles on it. The transmission always kicks really hard when going from 1st to 2nd gear in its automatic transmission. Now I have to play with the accelerator to get it to shift to fourth. Another problem I have is that when I first start it up it feels as if it has a lot of power to it. But after 20 seconds it loses most power and struggles to accelerate. What is wrong with the car?

I feel that these are all internal transmission problems, you should go get a trans specialist to do a test and report as they will have the special equipment to carry out these tests.
