How do I get out a stuck freeze plug?

I got old one out and when I put in new 1, I hit it in too far now it wont come out. Would it be ok to leave it in place or do I need to take it out

Drill a hole in it, then run in a self-tapping screw with the point ground off. Drill near the side, that way it will turn when you drive the bolt in so you can grab it. Be very careful to not drill through the cylinder wall. The core plug is soft and will drill easily. The cylinder wall is hard and will drill slower.
