I Have a 95 bmw 318is with a starting issue. It has to be cranked briefly repeatedly, sometimes as much as 15 times, before it will fire. According to the dealership's limited (but obscenely expensive) diagnostic there's some sort of power interruption to the coils during starting. The vehicle runs and drives ok once it's started, and I've tested the coils to verify that primary resistance is within spec. What other parts of the system might be responsible for this perplexing behavior?

The problem I have had with that particular engine/injection/ignition setup is the "brain" for the engine(the DME)is intermittent and I have had to replace several for the exact same reason. Call (619)444-2290 and talk to John, he may have a replacement DME for you, or he could get you in touch with someone who does repair work.
