Car hood won't shut completely

Unable to close the hood completely, left side sticks up a few inches and can't latch any further. Pull handle for the hood is loose. Is that something that I can fix myself or I need to have a mechanic take a look and how much does it usually cost?

Did you try pushing pull handle back in then shut hood?

I have a 2005 Ford Taurus and my hood wouldnt close all the way either. My hood release level was very loose and I thought the cable broke. I took off the hood latch assembly and saw that a small spring that attached to the hood release cable was broken. Maybe try to look for that?
