i am asking for my dad so bare with me, i am working on a 94' grand am, the problem i am having is that it wont start and my dad just keeps throwing parts at it, he has changed the plugs, plug wires, coil packs, cam sensor, and the ecm (engine control module). also before it refused to start at all it would sometimes not start after driving for sort or long periods, but if you let it sit a while it would start. just so you know it will turn over all day long but wont start. we have fuel and the right fuel pressure, but have not checked for spark nor strength of spark myself. any insite would be greatly and graciously appreciated

You need to visually check for spark at the plugs, engine cranking. Use a noid lite and check for injector pulse. Any applicable mil codes? You can check those trouble codes, yourself.

Use a jumper wire between A & B terminals at the datalink connector, lower edge of dash. Turn key till dash lites come on, no crank. Mil starts flashing, you count the flashes to get the codes. An example, a code 12, one flash, a slight pause then two quick flashes. It may flash three times before moving on to next code.

No spark, injectors good. OBD 1 system unresponsive to code reader. Although I do have check engine light on, it doesn't flash any codes.

If no spark at plugs and no injector pulse, I'd check primary voltage and ground at the ignition module. If that checks ok, my thought would be the crank sensor.
