COULD A PLUGED FILTER CAUSE A FUEL PUMP TO OVER HEAT OR SOMETHING TO WHERE IT STOPS PUMPING FUEL AND WHEN IT COOLS OFF IT WILL RUN AGAIN

No, for a filter to be clogged till it causes the fuel pump to overheat would mean you would not even be able to drive the vehicle when the pump is working.
A failing pump or a bad relay would stop when it heats up.
