Mercury Cougar Ball joint Problem
1999 Mercury Cougar, thumbing sound coming from front of car when brake is applied hard, no thumbing if brake is applied softly.
it has new brakes and good rotors (turned) new ball joints upper and lower

hot spots on rotors. replace them and the problem should go away

Are you sure? The rotors have just been turned at a machine shop, only 30 miles on them and new brake pads
this is a 1994 mercury cougar, not a 1999, 1999 was a mis-print
