Have you checked to make sure nothing is sticking with the brakes? Has the check engine light come on? Have you checked to make sure the catalytic converter isn't plugged?

If you have a check engine light, have codes read first.

But it sounds like the transmission is the problem, could also be a bearing, shift linkage, where the trans is starting out in second gear rather than first.
