When I replace the windshield wiper motor on a 1994 Lexus ES300, what is the position (time) that I put the motor at? I was told 3:00 but when I try that, the wipers are first running slow and then the linkage is falling of the motor.

Do not bother about the position of the motor.

After installation of wiper motor, DO NOT install the wiper arms.
Turn ignition switch.
Turn wiper switch on and check if motor is working correctly.
Turn wiper switch OFF and allow the motor to stop. DO NOT turn ignition switch off until the motor has parked itself.
Install wiper as per resting position and retest wiper operations.

If you had removeed the wiper motor lever, then you have to put it at 3 'Oclock but the motor must be in the parked position. Perform the above parking for the motor before installing the lever at 3 o'clock position.
