I have a 1994 Jeep Cherokee and it has an oil leak that appears to be dropping on the ground below the mid-center of the engine. What could possibly be the reason for this? How much will it be to get it repaired? Anything less than $500?

The problem we have will estimating this for you is that when oil leaks from nearly anywhere on the engine, it will tend to gather near the center of the oil pan and drip there. There are, however, a few repairs that it could be and still fall under $500. The two most desirable leaks--if I can call a leak desirable--would come from the oil drain plug or the filter. Both of those are cheap and easy to fix, in most cases. The oil pan gasket should fall under $500 as well. Most everything else would likely crest that $500 mark.
