Yesterday I noticed a strange noise coming from my engine when I applied the brakes, I pumped the break a few times and the noise stopped but would return if I went very long without breaking. When I killed the engine a mechanical noise continued and today my battery was dead. I think the break pump continued to run all night, is that possible and if so should replacing the pump fix it or is it a problem in the lines?

This is actually real common on GM trucks. Replace the shorted ABS computer. That's what runs the pump and isn't turning off.
