When turning on a/c in my 94 4x4 Explorer, why is there a long delay before starting up?

Like maybe 3-5min delay? My bro n law replaced new radiator and no leaks and when start up runs fine. Then when I turn a/c it starts leaking from overflow. Now I leave a/c off.?

Sounds like your engine runs hot with the a/c on do you ever hear the a/c condensor fan come on?What are the high and low pressure reading with the a/c off?

I would get a air compressor and blow out the a/c condensor and radiator fins to make sure there is good air flow coming thru. Also you need to check you a/c pressures high and low with the a/c running and a/c that will figure this problem out also.
