Where is the engine temperature sensor on a 1994 ford escort? While driving, the temperature on the guage never gets to the normal range. The thermostat has been replaced with an OEM thermostat. The problem is still there. I was told by a mechanic that if the temp does not get to normal range, the electronic control module will be making incorrect decision on proper settings for optimum performance. Any suggestions would be helpful.
Thank you and have a great day

Try this. The coolant temperature sensor on the Ford Escort is located at the back of the cylinder block, near the heater hose pipe just under the air intake tube, you shouldn't miss it

Ford provides trouble codes for the Coolant temprature sensor if there are any malfunctions with it a trouble code will be set. So if there are no codes set for the sensor then that is most likely not you problem. The sensor for the 1.8 is mounted on the cylinder head and has a 2 wire conector a dark blue/white and a black and white and for the 1.9 it is spiced into the heater hose on the left side of the block (left side being the right side if standing infront of the car)and the colors of the wires are Light blue/white and light green/ black. And your mechanics was right your (ect)sensor provides information to your controle module and the controle module uses the information to adjust the fuel injection, EGR, and igniton timing.

If the car drives fine and gas mileage is good and the heater works good I wouldn't worry about it.
