After replacing my clutch. I immediately had a problem with my shifter. It won't go into gear. Brought the car right back to the mechanic he said It was the shifter he replaced the linkage and bushings. Still same problem. Now he says put a new tranny in Please HELP

Clutch kits can vary quite a bit on VW's and the wrong kit (although it fits) can have all sorts of problems. Repco/LUK kits dimensions have given me fewer problems in past than others. The plate on which the center push-rod pushes also differ by make and can make gear changes very difficult. Also be careful of flywheel changes. Wrong pressure plate thickness will also cause this. If all replacement parts are dimensionally correct than check the adjustment of the gear linkages as these can also cause difficult gear changes. My view however is if your gear changes were fine before the clutch change, then your replacement parts are the culprits.
