How do I replace the oil pan gasket, I have a leak and was told it is the oil pan gasket but I may also have a leak from the rear main seal so how should I handle that?

The sump should be sealed with a chemical bond and not a gasket, the rear main will require the removal of the transmission, this is often to much of a job to be done by a novice home mechanic, as you may not have the tooling to do this job, a good mechanic can identify the leak first, best to make sure exactly where the leak is first.
