Subaru Impreza Engine Problem

I drive a '93 Subaru Impreza. Lately, my accelerator pedal will sometimes stop working while I'm driving, even while everything else seems to work fine, but will work again after about 2-5 seconds. It just kind of stops accelerating temporarily. This used to happen only once in a while, but lately it has been happening more frequently. A friend of mine said it might be the accelerator module. Any thoughts on this would be awesome!

there is no such module.

it sounds like the engine is hesitating from some other issue.
have the fuel pressure checked, check for any codes and have the cat converter checked for back pressure.
