ran for a minute then made high pitched sound

I have a 1993 Saturn sl1 - I started my car this am ran for about a minute then made a high pitched sound and shut off. I tried starting it again and same thing happened. I let it sit for a few hours and tried again it started but didn't sound right so I turned it off and checked my plugs m wires and sensors. I tried to start it again and it just trying turning over but really really fast. It was about 1-2 quarts low when I tried starting it, but nothing?
