Why wont my car go into gear?

My 93 nissan maxima does not move anywhere wen I shift. There was a loud popping noise when it stopped moving. When I press the gas pedal it just goes nowhere in any gear! What could this be?

The transmission is slipping-bring it in and have it further diagnosed-How's the fluid level and condition?

Its not slipping it just wont go anywhere whatever gear I put it in it just wont move it just revs.

What is this an auto or a manual transmission? Don't matter its still slipping-check gear linkage at tranny
