Get it into next town...call tow..get it home..take it off the towtruck and it starts up and runs seemingly fine...over 4k rpm no problem..starts and idles fine now. Any ideas?

Did the MIL indicate at the time it occurred?

There is a possiblity the ignition coil is failing. Give the engine a longer run to see if problem reoccurrs.
