When my tachometer quits working, why does my auto trans quit shifting right? It is a 7.3 diesel non turboed

When my tachometer quits working, my transmission (auto trans) quits shifting right. I know its something electrical, but where do I start looking?

You could check/replace the tach sensor.

On the injection pump gear cover.
