How do i know if timing chain bad
IT BACK FIRE I CAN BE DRIVING AND IT SHUTS OFF ACTS LIKE IT WANTS TOO START BUT WANT HAS A NEW FUIL PUMP NEW DIST NEW WIRES NEW PLUGS AND IT WOULD KNCK REAL HARD BUT WHEN IT START IT SMOOTH OUT KNOW KNOCKING BUT WANT START AT ALL NOW HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You need to removing the timing chain cover to check if the chain has jumped or you can check if the #1 cylinder is at top dead center when the timing marks are on TDC at the harmonic balancer. If it doesn't start at all now, check to make sure it is getting spark and fuel to the engine. See if it will start with starting fluid. If it does, it is fuel related. If it fails to start with starting fluid, it usually is ignition related unless there is low compression or it is out of time.
