I tought I had a bad starter but when I removed it I had it bench tested it showed good, went back to van and reinstalled it, and the same thing. What its doing is not turning engine over soungs like grinding. Took starter back out and looked for broken teeth on flywheel, didn't see any. All wires to starter are good condition tryed to start with key while starter was removed and bendix kicked out, where do I go next?

Probably the starter drive is shot, it will kick out but when you put load of turning engine over it slips as it has a mechanical clutch in there and they wear out. Auto parts can't test for that. One other thing you can test is the battery, check for condition including load test auto parts cando that a s well.
