93 ford aerostar died and found distributor gear teeth almost gone what is problem? already changed distributor and problem repeated
Visual inspected camshaft and valvetrain components, found no mechanical damage

I remember that happening to fords in the 80' and early 90's. there was a fix that used a flat washer under the distributor to shim it up to change the gear contact with the cam. I will try to find the tsb and get it to you.
