The car (200,000mi)suddenly quit while driving down the road and has not fired since. I replaced the Ignition module and coils and I have plenty of hot spark. After cranking 10-15 seconds, there is a gas smell outside the engine and fuel will spray from the fuel rail when bleeding at the test port. I tried plugging into the diagnostic port with a code reader and it told me it was not communicating with the vehicle error after many tries messing with the connection plug and wires. (Code reader worked fine on another vehicle.) I jumper wired the A and B terminals on the diagnostic plug and got a 12 code and EGR sensor code. (I don't remember the number now). I pulled EGR and cleaned it and no change. All fuses are intact. I tested TPS sensor, it seems to be working. There is absolutely no firing while cranking and it seems no fuel on plugs after cranking. Is there a way to test the ECM? Also can I test the crank sensor? Any other suggestions? Thanks

Use a noid lite, check for injector pulse, engine cranking. Use a gage to check fuel pressure. If you have good spark with engine cranking, I don't think the problem is the crank sensor.

Could the EGR sensor have shorted out causing the system to shut down fuel injector pulse? I will probably check FI pulse tomorrow and then if there is none, I'll start unplugging sensors to see if there is a short to the ECM.

Just for testing you could use a block-off in place of egr, to see if it does better?

Hi, it would be best to start your own new post, it creats less confusing.

Will the vehicle start and run? If not, will it crank, starter action. If it cranks good but won't start, have a helper crank it while you check for spark at the plugs, if you have spark everywhere, use a gage and check fuel pressure. Let us know.
