Why Ignition switch will not stay on, and turns to the OFF position, must hold it in the ON position while driving

The Ignition switch turns OFF when the key is released. I must hold it in the ON position, or it will turn of the engine.

might be out of adjustment or a bad switch

realign the ingition switch on the column.will the key go into accessory poss.?
