Hi,

Why do new model nissan sentras have smaller or shorter oil filters than the old sentras for example e15 e16 engines that were manufactures in the 80s?

Because manufacturers change things for lighter weight/sizing etc.

I can't be able to purchase an an oil filter locally that matches my OEM size filter. Locally I am only able to purchase smaller and larger filters than my OEM size filter. The retail store employee said that it is always better to use a smaller filter for greater oil pressure but I want expert advice. What do you recommend I go with the smaller filter or the larger filter?

Never believe a thing the parts guy tells you other than selling parts. I always went with the larger filter because it held more oil also I don't use fram products they are built way to cheap
