sentra front axles

machanic said front axles boots were gone and axles were dry.Do they need to be replaced or can they be lubed? It's a 92'sentra w/4speed manual tran.

Honestly, the boots are there to keep the grease in the CV joint. If you hear a clicking when turning, the joint is bad and needs replaced. If you only lube them, dirt gets in and the grease flings off. So that isn't an option. You can get a new axle with both new joints and boots for under a hundred dollars. Then labor to replace. That is what it sounds like needs done.
