Do you know what may have happened? And why it would've started earlier, but not any more?

Recently my car got pretty hot while I was driving. I pulled over and put some water in the radiator. It started up fine and drove the rest of the next 15odd km home not a problem, and without getting hot. It started the next afternoon fine when I moved it and I found that it had a leak in the water pump. I then left it sitting for a few days and went to start it again but now it wont start - not even when its on jumper leads. Help?

You could have a leaking head gasket which leaked into the cylinders and allowed anti-freeze into the cylinders. The heat may have damaged the seal to the water pump or it could be residual fluid from the engine leak.
Get a cooling system pressure test gauge. If you have a major auto parts chain store, like Auto Zone, they usually have loaner tools like this. Test the system for pressure and to see how long it will hold pressure.
