I have a 1992 Lincoln Towncar Cartier that won't start. When I get a jump (& wait 15 minutes to charge) it starts, but cuts off when put into gear. I have recently (within 6mts) replaced fuses, the battery, and the radiator. I have cleaned off acid buildup from the battery posts. My husband lost the water/antifreeze resivoir cap. Could that have something to do with it? Please Help! ~ Dallas

No it shouldn't, batterys emit hydrogen gas and can cause corrosion.

Take to autoparts store and get charging system tested, you could have a bad alternator, you can either drive there or remove alt and have them bench tested.

Coat battery terminals (after attaching cables) with petroleom jelly to prevent build up.
