318 engine. Red Engine Light comes on and stays on. Engine is a bit difficult to start. Appears to be fuel starvation at time. Will start if I prime with fuel in carb. Already changed fuel filter. All ok. Fuel pump ok since truck will run once it is started. What could cause the engine light to stay on? Truck runs fine once it starts. RPM does appear to vary somewhat when truck just sitting iding.

Start by reading the stored diagnostic fault code. That will tell you the circuit or system that needs further diagnosis.
