92 S-10 troobleshooting

92 s10 when I turn on headlights or parklights or engage the backup lights the engine will start misfireing and then die. If it does start back it backfires and runs bad. Can u help?

Start by checking the alternator if its producing the proper electrical load, also check fuel pressure, idle air control valve, EGR/PCV valves and the throttle position sensor
