I need to know if I can put a 1981 chevy standard transmission is my 1992 chevy cheyenne standard 4wd 1500

It needsto have a short shaft for the tcase and may be a different gear ratio. Of course your clutch hook up may be different as well. Especially if going from a 5 to a 4 speed.
