Knocking sound from the engine

My 1991 Pontiac grand am has a knocking sound from the motor people say it could be the piston and someone said it could be the flywheel whats your answer?

its starts but it has a bad knocking sound cant really figure it out.

Pull spark plug wires when its nocking and see if one cylinder has more of an affect on the noise than others

I dont think it has spark plug wires I no it has the 4 spark plugs on the top under the cap.

You can run the engine with spark plug wires jumped from the cover with the coils to the plugs. Disable one @ a time
