91 Bonneville shut off

I have a 91 bonneville and the car will cut off while driving and will not start back up for hours. Also it has a ratalling noise, that sounds like the harmonic balancer. What could cause these problems

When the problem occurs, have a helper crank it, while you visually check for spark at the plugs. If you have spark everywhere, use a gage and check fuel pressure. Check for possible mil codes. Let us know what you find.
