Mazda 121 Timing belt Problem

can you change tappet cover gasket without removing timing belt cover

Yup. The valve cover contains the oil that gets pumped up there and splashes around. Timing belts do not like oil. The camshaft sprocket and the belt will not be under the valve cover. They remain dry.

u may need to cut timing cover [the upper half to gain access to remove v/c]
