Heater quit working, also all gauges quit working and power windows and door locks quit working, lights are off, but dash lights are on very dim

Ok, good. I'd focus on the fuse block and make sure your getting power into and out of the fuse block for each of the components not working. Also, I'd check the ignition switch to make sure all the electrical contacts are working & not just to start the engine.
There is either a short, open circuit or switch not connected ( or has a poor connection) causing all of this.
