Volkswagen Jetta Fuel filter Problem

Hi, I have a 1990 VW Jetta that acts like its starving for fule, it sputters out and it stops when i give it enough gas and i get the RPMs up. What could it be?

I'm guessing your car has Digifant Fuel Injected... there should
be 2 fuel pumps, one under the car by the fuel filter and one
inside the fuel tank.

If the one in the tank fails, you can have power / stalling issues.

Faulty ignition components can also cause similar issues.

Checking fuel pressure at the injector rail will not be enough... both
pumps need to be checked for flow & current draw.
