Trying to turn off the check engine light

Did everything the manual says to do but it didn't work it's a 1990 subaru legacy I did exactly what the manual said to do but it did not work can u please help me?

Did you make a repair?Also how did you try clearing the code?

It probably has a hard code on it and won't erase/clear

Are you just expecting to clear the code and light to go out and never come back on?Because there is a reason the lights on. Have you checked for codes to see what codes you have?
