Im trying to change out the cv axe joint but the one i bought won't go in the final inch. Come to find out the transmission has been rebuilt. The car was built in '89 so it should take an '89 cv axle. Is it possible that when the transmission was rebuilt they changed the axle to a '91 axle?

i doubt it. the c clip is an issue at times to seat . i put some grease on it when installing. i also use a rubber mallet on the out joint and shock it into seating

I have found the need to use a pick tool to hold the clip in the groove to facilitate the "final inch" of the installation
