1990 chevy illumina starts but does not stay running

My 1990 chevy lumina does not stay running. I was told to check fuel pressure first. Is this correct? Where to buy inexpensive fuel pressure tester?

Some of the national brand autostores used to loan out a fuel pressure gage. You may have to put up a deposit, you get the money back when you bring the tool back. How long since a tune-up? Check for applicable mil codes.
