I can start my car and it will idle in park and in neutral but as soon as I put it in drive or reverse it dies almost instantly. Have replaced the distributor cap but not the actual distributor also have replaced the plugs and wires and fuel filter. What else could be my problem?

If you hold the revs up a little with your foot on the brake, (just above what would be a normal idle speed) will it stay running? If so check the idle control system for faults.
